San Peun (1977)

Artwork by Chawana

Here's another of Chawana's masterpieces, the 1977 Thai action/drama SAN PEUN. If I didn't know better, I might think this was a 3D movie. The figures seem to pop right out of the paper.

In terms of composition, this poster is text-book perfect. The viewer's eye easily navigates all the action without losing the element of surprise in finding minute details scattered about. The number of visages and people is relatively low by Thai poster standards, but it still has an exciting busyness to it.

I'll try not to bullshit too much about the artwork, because I don't really know what I'm talking about, but this poster is one of my favorites. I imagine the poster is the best part of this movie, the name translates to "Court of the Gun." Don't know if was ever given a proper English name.
